He's usually standing near the edge of it, quietly noticing what everyone else has missed.

He checks the weather before the trip. He waits until everyone is inside before locking the door. He walks a little behind the group, not because he's slower, but because someone has to make sure no one gets left behind.

He doesn't expect thanks.

Knowing everyone made it home is enough.
